The NABIS
website contains information and features geared
towards the professional community. There is
information about the society, it's history and
mission and a number of other features including a
conference listing page, a press room with archived
press releases and news items and a career
headquarters page which lists professional career
opportunities from across the country. You can
also view a page of brain injury facts.
From the NABIS
website you can link to HDI publishers, which is a
long-time publisher of books related to brain injury,
rehabilitation, family issues, coma, materials for
educators, community reentry subjects and much more.
There is information about membership to NABIS
and you can find out about the three levels of
membership. The full membership includes access
to a number of helpful features including a scientific
research service, internet-only programs for members,
access to inter-active online message boards and other
useful tools.
NABIS
also publishes its own journal: Brain Injury
Professional. You can view a listing of
recent issues. A subscription to the journal is
included with full membership.
Like other organizations NABIS
holds a major conference yearly. In 2006 they held
their Brain Injury Conference of the Americas as
well as a conference on legal issues. You can find
out about future conferences from their website.
Professional societies are not simply of interest to
professionals and clinicians. Individuals with
brain injury, family members and advocates can benefit
from knowing about organizations like NABIS
and what they are doing to advance rehabilitation,
treatment, care and support of persons with brain
injury. So whether you are a scientist,
neurologist, neuropsychologist, physician or someone
with a brain injury, make a visit to NABIS
and learn what they are all about.
Northeast Center for Special Care is pleased to
present NABIS
as our website of the month for
November, 2006. They
are just a click away,
and don't forget to bookmark them so you can
visit again.
