With funding in place Logan and her mother began work
on the first issue and its website. Both the
magazine and website are slickly designed by professional design
company
Klündt
| Hosmer
who donated many hours of design with a passion to
assist Logan fulfill her mission. The website has a
text-only version as well.
The
Logan Magazine
mission is to inspire, encourage and inform young
women with disabilities about how to lead a lifestyle
that is productive, purposeful and pleasurable with
the goal to motivate young women to live, work, play,
dream big and look great experiencing all life has to
offer.
Laurie Olson added:
By
producing Logan
Magazine, our goal is to convey to people with all kinds of
disabilities that life is always beautiful.
|
Indeed
it does. The
32-page, full color, glossy magazine expands
disability awareness with informative and interesting personal success stories.
The premiere issue features an article about Ginny Owens,
a visually impaired singer and songwriter which you
can read on the website. There is also an
article about Logan which gives the reader more
insight into her unique journey.

From
the
Logan Magazine website visitors will be able to subscribe,
there is a section called "Cheap Chic," which
presents great looking inexpensive fashions and the
visitor can order from national retailers directly form
the site. A section called "Tools for
Living" displays accessible products that can be
used for daily living tasks and like the "Cheap
Chic" section these items can be ordered from the
site. An "Ask Logan," feature is
also planned.
When you visit
Logan Magazine what you will see is the
start of unique publication and website. Here at
Northeast Center we are big fans of new sites that are
created to serve communities that may have been
overlooked. Logan Magazine was envisioned to fill
an underserved need and presented with a lot of
style. It has the potential to level the playing
field in that for the first time young women with
disabilities have a publication and website as
well-produced as any publication.
Logan herself states:
I
feel proud through my magazine I have a way to
help others. I hope readers let us know
what they think, so we can cover more of the
topics they like.

A
new generation of people has emerged. Young,
active, successful who do not let disability stay in the
way of pursuing their dreams. Whether they are
business people, professionals, play competitive adaptive
sports or start magazines there are no barriers that
can't be overcome.
As we have noted in the past at northeastcenter.com,
it is always fun to watch how new websites (and in this
case an accompanying magazine) develop over time.
It will be interesting to see how
Logan Magazine grows
as it connects with its audience. The magazine and
website has already attracted the attention of the media
in the northwest - we think you will be reading and
seeing a lot more about
Logan
Magazine.
Join Logan on her journey - make sure you
take time to pay a visit "Because Life is
Always Beautiful," as Logan would say.
