About the Ventilator Care and Ventilator
Weaning Program at
Northeast Center for Special Care
Ventilator Weaning
The hope for weaning individuals from mechanical ventilators is
greater than ever. We have the clinical expertise that have helped
Northeast Center to have one of the highest weaning rates in the
country.
Further, we maintain a specially equipped step-down unit for
individuals who have been weaned from a mechanical ventilator. Our
staff provides tracheostomy care and care after decannulation.
Our professional respiratory, nursing, dietary and medical
team implements and follows proven, successful ventilator
weaning protocols which include addressing and treating the
special needs of each individual person.

Our dedicated staff has assisted scores of individuals to
be able to breathe on their own once again and thereby
gaining confidence and strength as they work towards
returning home to a productive life with family and friends
once again.
The difference at Northeast Center for Special Care is the
caring dedication that our staff brings in a beautiful
state-of-art therapeutic community. We look at
everyone who is admitted to Northeast Center as our
"Neighbors," which builds a sense of community
among our talented staff and our Resident-Neighbors and that
makes for a unique rehabilitation environment.
As our Resident-Neighbors progress they
become active in their therapeutic community
here. As they learn to
become independent once again they are able to put that into
practice on a daily basis.
Northeast Center for Special Care offers a wealth of
activities for our Resident-Neighbors including educational groups, our Fine Arts
Program, our renowned Art Studio, Pet Therapy, daily
recreational programs and activities as well as special
events.
