Ventilator
Care
At the Ventilator Care Program at Northeast Center for Special Care we
have artfully combined technology with professional loving care to assist you or a loved one in pulmonary rehabilitation.
Rehabilitation occurs in comfortable, homelike, state-of-art
environment with our qualified, professional staff. We have a
dedicated unit with medical gases and a suction system installed
into the walls of patient rooms and common areas.
We utilize the latest ventilators, which can
also be mounted on a wheelchair to allow our Resident-Neighbors
mobility.

Treatment Planning
An interdisciplinary Team approach for Resident-Neighbor care is utilized to develop
individualized treatment plans. Each member of the team is highly skilled
and experienced in the care of ventilator dependent
Resident-Neighbors. These
skilled individuals include: Board Certified Pulmonologists,
Registered Respiratory Therapists, Nursing professionals, Recreation
Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Speech
Language Pathologists, Dietician-nutritionist, Social Worker,
psycho-social counselor and Case Manager.
Treatment is personalized and directed through an interdisciplinary
Treatment Team of clinicians who are dedicated to our Ventilator
Care program. At Northeast Center we believe that Resident-Neighbor as
well as family involvement and support is important in ventilator
care, rehabilitation and in weaning from a
ventilator. Family members are included in the treatment process and
in discharge planning. The Interdisciplinary Treatment Team provides
education and training in the skills needed after discharge.

Our
friendly, caring staff provides around-the-clock care |
Our commitment to improved quality of life to each of our residents
is demonstrated by individual goal setting. The primary focus,
whenever possible, of ventilator rehabilitation is to wean an
individual from mechanical ventilation and to resume or regain an
optimal level of independent function. Our mission is always for the
individual to return home and be integrated back in their community.
24 Hours a Day
Our diligently trained clinical staff of Registered Nurses,
Licensed Practical Nurses, Registered Respiratory Therapists,
Certified Nursing Assistants, Respiratory Assistants, a full-time
on-staff Physician and Board-Certified Pulmonologists, help provide
round-the-clock care. Our Registered Respiratory Therapist staffing
exceeds state guidelines.
We are one of the few programs that have Licensed Respiratory
Therapists on premises 24 hours a day. Their program is individualized
for the patient and includes education, instruction on medications,
use of oxygen therapy, breathing techniques and relaxation.
Our Resident-Neighbors are monitored with state-of-art equipment,
which includes computers and automatic alarms. Equipment is on hand
to monitor blood gases and measure lung function and tolerance.
