"Farmhouse"  30" x 24"  1999

By Douglas L.

Suddenly one day, there appeared at Northeast Center for Special Care a new Resident-Neighbor streaking down "Main Street" (what we call our main hallway) in his wheelchair wearing a Harley Davidson cap.  Meet Douglas L., a quintessential biker who had been paralyzed 15 years ago in a motorcycle accident.

Amicable and engaging, Doug confided during a conversation the he had a visions in his head of this painting.  He wanted to paint a farmhouse with windows revealing the nature and content of each room.  After doing a preparatory drawing, he did this painting which represents half of this personal vision.  Doug finished his care and rehabilitation at Northeast Center for Special Care and was discharged back to home.
