In this
portrait, Eric’s ‘eye’ enabled him to realize a
synthesis between keen observation and strident
expression, conjuring a Postmodernist’s consciousness
of a Memling or Holbein. In these paintings, he captured
his subject’s dignity and sense of self. Eric has been
discharged and returned to the community.
