Myron S., is a regular participant in the Fine Arts Program who never painted before he came to the Northeast Center for Special Care. Faced with multiple diagnoses, he came to enjoy painting because, “it makes me feel good”. He likes to paint directly without a plan, feeling his way through the painting a little bit at a time. He pays close attention to the appreciation others show for his work. He views art as part of his life for the long term. Myron paints with great joy and prolific energy as he typically completes a piece in one session. He prefers a palette filled with “all colors”. His paintings are a cacophony of joyful people and animals, suns bursting, and words of love. Myron has collaborated on large murals as well in which his characters, colors, and style are distinctly part of the whole.
This
painting is a subtle example of Myron’s work that typically exhibits all
colors, brightly rendered. Its more limited blue/green palette
supports a dynamic abstract and soulful landscape.
