George
N.
is a highly cultured man who loved to go to the opera, theater, and
museums before experiencing a stroke.
He loved to cook and gather his family and friends together.
He traveled widely, piloted his own plane, enjoyed hiking,
fishing, and camping. Formerly,
George was a successful attorney.
Since coming to the Northeast Center for Special Care, George gradually
became involved in the Fine Arts Program.
He is focused on drawing with pencils and eraser in the tradition
of the Old Masters. Each
afternoon he comes to the Art Studio for the full session, working
meticulously on drawings depicting buildings, the landscape, and people.
He also enjoys outdoor landscapes, and drawing, directly from
nature.
Recently George has become engrossed with studies based on Rembrandt
drawings. This example,
entitled, Portrait of Maurits Huygens, depicts his most recent, delicately
resolved piece. He is a
collector of old animal prints, opera posters, architectural renderings,
and other special artifacts. These
themes may find their way into his next groups of works.
