Kathryn
W. is rehabilitating from a traumatic brain injury caused by an
automobile accident. She
has always loved art, especially painting.
Now thirty-two, Kathryn is a regular participant in the Northeast
Center for Special Care Fine Arts Program.
Kathryn has developed a unique visual language, which involves the rich
layering of text and image. Often
she works with heart symbolism and text focused on individuals of whom
she is fond. Her paintings
are fresh, expansive, and passionate, created with a limited palette
including reds, purples, black and white. They transform many times,
culminating ultimately as a dimensional, symphonic work.
This example, created for a recent Art
for the Heart exhibition, exemplifies her unique visual and textual
style.
