As a result of lupus and meningitis Linda, an upbeat woman who was fully involved with her life, was suddenly found unconscious and comatose. She suffered from seizures and required a mechanical ventilator in order to breathe. After coming to Northeast Center she made a remarkable recovery. In a relatively short time she moved from her wheelchair, to become ambulatory, and recovered her ability to speak and was able to return to her home in the community to be with her family. Linda discovered the Fine Arts Program. She was inspired by the
dynamic Art Studio and the diverse art created by other residents.
Though she had not had much art experience she was intrigued with
possibilities offered by the pastel medium. This piece exemplifies one
of her first attempts with the new medium. The cohesive, richly colored
and textured image speaks of a woman who experienced a profound
pilgrimage both in art and poignantly, her whole life.
