Brain
injury rehabilitation is a specialty. Though brain injury shares
characteristics with other disabling conditions it is unique because
of the interplay of the various impairments that often follow brain
injury, in particular, the effect of cognitive impairment on
rehabilitation efforts.
Cognitive impairment often includes problems
with attention, orientation, mood regulation, thinking,
self-awareness, memory, language, visual perception, and
communication and tends to reduce the individual’s ability to
actively participate in treatment. These special problems require
special knowledge and skills. Our clinical and support staff specializes in this
area of treatment.
Brain injury rehabilitation takes time and expertise. Brain injury
is a life long disorder.

Because
brain injury challenges the mind, the body, and the spirit, a truly
unique and uniquely effective program has been designed at Northeast Center for Special care to restore physical and cognitive
abilities, emotional adjustment, and spiritual well-being.
The ultimate goal of treatment is not just a return to the community
but mastery of a style of living that maintains the gains made in
therapy and promotes mental and physical health and a positive,
hopeful outlook that continues to grow throughout an individual's lifetime. Our hundreds of
program graduates; who have successfully
reintegrated back to their home communities are a testament to the
outcomes we are able to achieve.
We know how important picking the right program is and how anxious
you may be about entrusting the care of a loved one to others. We
look forward to answering your questions and taking you for an
in-depth tour of our facility and programs.
